Becky Kimball
Hat: The Primrose by Gigi Pip

I knew who Becky Kimball was before I met her. I had been following her on instagram + swooned over her incredible pictures, amazing home + beautiful life since the beginning of my instagram days --- but the thing that really left an impression on me, is the way she talked about her children. Such kindness, confidence + wisdom well beyond her years. We sat at the shallow end of the swimming pool as she told me her story. My life is forever changed. I love her heart so much! Becky is kind, she works hard for what she wants + puts her faith above her fear. I'm excited for you to see life underneath the many hats she wears.

What are the roles or hats you lead in your life?
As it is with most women, the roles I play vary significantly from day to day. I am first and foremost a mother and a wife. I am also a friend, a sister, a twin, a daughter, a photographer, a good listener, an organizer, a cleaner (a bit OCD if you ask my husband) and a numbers girl. Lastly, I am an Angel Mother.
Which hat do you find most rewarding?
The hat that is most rewarding is being a mother. I am this role every minute of every day and I feel blessed and grateful because of it. It is not one I take lightly as we can't turn this role off and set it aside for a time. Which also makes it exhausting, draining and emotionally challenging. But we all know that it's enduring the hard things that our greatest reward comes. And seeing my children succeed and thrive gives my heart the greatest joy.

What hats do you find are most challenging and what do you do to embrace them?
The hat that has probably been the most challenging is my role as an Angel Mother. This is a role that is not given to many and it is not one that you ever want. When faced with this, it seemed that no other thing in this world would ever be important anymore and I felt as though I couldn't go on in life. To be honest, there were times I wanted to crawl right in Rylee's tiny casket and lay with her forever and follow her to heaven. Naturally, the challenge trying to overcome and accept this role was putting anger aside and realizing that every day I could get through would mean that I'm one day closer to seeing her again. We embrace this role by incorporating her in to every fiber of my family's growth and we are that much more blessed because we have an angel watching over us.

What hats are least known about you?
The hat least known about me is that I graduated with a degree in Business Finance and worked in that field for ten years. On a leap of faith, I took my focus to photography full-time just three years ago and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Who or what inspires you?
My faith inspires me. It inspires me to be better at all these roles and gives me the strength to know that for as many hats as we wear, that we can't be all things to all people if we aren't being good to ourselves and taking care of ourselves. Something that I always reflect on (and I can't remember where I heard it) is that we can't lift others up to a point that's higher than where we are. So it's important that we all be kind to ourselves and put the pressure of wearing all these hats perfectly off to the side. My faith is a constant in my life to help me get past the challenge of all of our roles and reminds me that we are not in this alone.
