Here are three ways she styles her Dahlia in Brown for Fall.
I love the Fall…or to be a bit more specific, Fall fashion.
There is something about cozy knit layers, boots made for walkin’ and stylish felt hats that give me all the feels. After having spent the last decade in warm-weather climates like Scottsdale, AZ and San Diego, CA, I am taking every opportunity to indulge in a stroll around town to take in the vibrantly colored leaves, more than my fair share of dirty chai's, and moody weather.
One of my go-to pieces for the Fall is a killer hat, because let’s face it, who wants to spend all of their time getting ready on a cold morning when they could hit the snooze button, put on a hat and look just as good (or better). Today I am sharing three ways to style one of my all-time favorite Gigi Pip hats, the Dahlia Boater Hat, a.k.a, the unexpected all-star of my Fall fashion line up.
Maxi Dress + Boots + Boater = Boho Perfection
I love to wear dresses, especially maxi-dresses. They are super easy to pack when I travel, and are extremely comfy to wear. I picked this bohemian maxi dress up from Amazon Fashion’s “Cotton: Fashion Delivered" Runway Show at New York Fashion Week and LOVE IT. This kind of print can be tricky to pull off, but I have found that accessories are your best bet to avoid looking like you escaped from a little house on the prairie.
A wide-brim hat (like the Dahlia) is the perfect way to balance the flowing shape of the dress and really pulls the whole look together. I finished the look with some of my favorite Allsaints boots, but you could really wear this look with over the knee boots, ankle booties, or even swap your boots for sandals when the weather warms up.
Skinny Jean + Your Favorite Black Top + Camel Coat +
Statement Boot + Boater Hat = Minimalist to the Max
Since I wear a lot of black, a lot of denim and live in t-shirts during the Fall, one of my favorite ways to express myself is through eye-catching accessories. A great way to add a pop of color without going overboard is through camel accessories. The hue is so luxurious looking and it pairs perfectly with natural tones like black, denim, white and grey.
For this look I opted for my favorite skinny jeans from Joe’s Jeans, some statement making sequin booties from JustFab, my go-to wool blend camel coat, and my Dahlia Boater hat (of course!).
Cropped Statement T + Black Lace-Up Jean + Black Heels +
Plaid Coat + Boater Hat = A New Kind of Classic
If you can’t tell by now...I live for neutrals, and live in jeans and t-shirts. So a great way to switch up such a classic look, is a cheeky graphic T and a fun hat, like the Dahlia. To add some more depth to the look, I like to add in fun prints and patterns like plaid.
I have found that experimenting with classic staples like skinny jeans, t-shirts and outerwear can be such a great way to go so don’t be afraid to redefine your basics with a little more edge!
If I am being completely honest, when I visited the store I figured I would walk out with a newsboy cap, or a black fedora which are two of my go-to styles. It wasn’t until Brittney, the fab girl working that day suggested I try the Dahlia on. The shape and color were super unsuspecting, something I would never go for…needless to say, I LOVE Brittney, because she got me out of my comfort zone and introduced me to my new fave coif topper!
So whether you are new to the hat game, or a veteran, my best advice is to step out of your comfort zone! While comfort is key, there is nothing quite like discovering a whole new you hiding underneath a hat somewhere.
xx,
Jessica
